A collection of my music taste

Music is a very important aspect of my life, it’s a tool in more than one way. Undoubtedly I listen to too much music on a daily basis and as a form of procrastinating I tend to go overboard on curating playlists for myself. So of course I thought I would share a few of my favourites and share the inspiration behind them.

In the year of 2021 I listened to a total of 131,153 minutes. That’s approximately 38.3% of the minutes I spent awake in the year. My top genres according to my data on sjoerd.dev are rap, uk alternative hip hop, grime, indie soul and rock. My top artists include Skepta, MF DOOM, Loyle Carner, Slowthai, Pink Floyd, KAYTRANADA, Kendrick Lamar, Arctic Monkeys, $NOT, JME & Flume.

Green Session.

a playlist inspired by friendships

Tastes in music can fairly easily influenced by those around you and over the years I have had many friends input into what I actively listen to today, this playlist is all about that and the direction it has developed in the last 24 months.

Black Tints.

a playlist inspired by the classic sports coupe

Over the last years I have spent many hours on the bus manifesting driving in my dream car one day. BMW’s M3 E30, is a beautiful and sleek coupé first built in the 1980s. These songs I chose for this playlist are perfect to be played on the speakers of the car I imagine myself driving one-day sitting behind black tints.

Starting off with Memphis by AG Club, the playlist follows a hard rap theme with inclings of grime, phonk and hip-hop.

One unique song from Black Tints I recommend you listen to is President T’s “King of Grime”, the artist originating from Tottenham brings such a unique voice and soothes the beat with an amazing charismatic flow, definitely a very under-appreciated artist on the UK’s grime scene.
